I'm Sketchpacker, but you can call me Favian.
Drawing and dreaming up stories has always been a part of my life since I was little. When I grew up, I discovered a love for visual storytelling and gravitated towards creating comics and cartoon characters. After pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, I went back to animation school and subsequently worked in the film industry for seven years, doing post-production for some of Hollywood's biggest films.
In 2012, I joined the Urban Sketchers Singapore. I've been an avid sketcher ever since, drawing the places I live in and travel to from direct observation using pens, pencils, watercolours, markers, and sometimes digital drawing tablets. Many of these sketches have been reproduced in books, magazines, and newspaper articles.
Besides urban sketching, I've created comics, illustrations, and cartoon characters for personal works and corporate mascots.
Apart from drawing, I also enjoy writing and making books. Some of the books I've contributed to and created are listed here. I also have a blog where I sometimes upload my art with some writeups. I've also created several comic books over the years.
Once in a while, I teach workshops and in schools. I've been teaching media-related subjects at tertiary level such as film history, digital compositing, digital painting, storyboarding, animation, and motion graphics since 2016. My workshops on observational drawing and creating comics have been conducted both locally and overseas. They are designed to equip participants who are new to drawing and creating comics with a strong foundation to build upon. Several people have found the things I teach helpful in starting off their sketching journey and are still using the techniques they learned today.
Last but not least, I am open for commissions! If you are looking for someone to sketch a scene to remember, or tell a story through comics, or design a cartoon mascot, drop me a message! I'll be happy to see how I can help you.
